Day 77 – Good Times

4 05 2009
Everybody!

Everybody!

Woke up feeling fine and ready for the day, although by the end of it felt like id been hit by a car.  Seems that the hangover wanted to lead me into a false sense of security.

It was Liz birthday today so the plan was Rollerblading at 3pm, dinner at spur for 5.30pm and Indiana Land at 8pm.  I get very jealous of the girls as they seem to come up with the best ideas for their birthdays.  Between Jess animal party and this, I feel slightly ashamed of just going out for drinks for my birthday next week :(.  I was a bit of a spoilsport when it came to the rollerblading as I really didnt have the energy so apologies to everyone for being a bit of a bore.  Spur was legendary with the best all you can eat ribs money could buy!  But the highlight of the day DEFINITELY had to be Indiana Land.  Jesus, i cant remember the last time I had so much fun.  Although it probably was the last time I was at Indiana Land which was probably when i was 10!

I was really annoyed at myself for being so hungover today.  Losing a whole day to alcohol is never worth it.  Regardless though, I did have a fantastic time 🙂

Day 63 – Push And Pull Of The Tide

20 04 2009
Doves

Doves

[Took the photos from the Doves gig with my new compact I got instead of an LX3 – Fujifilm f200 exr and its the worst £250 ive ever spent.  My LX3 was the most impressive compact ive ever used, and im now getting a new one and sending this fujifilm piece of crap back!]

I was hungover preetty badly today although this will be my last hangover for a while since im starting back to work tomorrow.  My liver is finally getting the rest it deserves.
Watched the new episode of Prison Break and it was shite.  Season 2 was by far the best and its all been downhill since then.  Ohh and if anyone is looking for a new comedy to watch then check out Party Down.  Its without a doubt one of my favourite new shows.
Went with Ronan to see Doves play in the Ulster Hall tonight.  It was my first time seeing them and Ronan told me before how the last time he saw them was one of the best gigs he ever went to so I knew it was gonna be good.  I really wish I wasnt really tired because it was incredible.  It was the best and by far my favourite lighting of any concert ive been too (2nd is seeing coldplay get the green laser out for their Rush Of Blood To The Head tour; now everyone uses it!).  They played fan favourites as well as a few earlier tracks.

What I really liked was that they changed a few thing with some of the tracks;  a slightly different drumbeat, extra notes, improvised lyrics for Black & White town.  And ending on the 3 man percussion was absolutely perfect.  One critism was that when any of them tried to speak I couldnt make out what they were saying.  But the sound was un-fucking believable!  Ulster Hall is still my favourite venue of all time.

Day 59 – Forgiven, Not Forgotten

A Fire, A Fire...

A Fire, A Fire...

I had the mother of all hangovers yesterday and wasnt really fit to do anything.  Then Chris rang me and said that a group called firepoise (Irelands Specialised Fire Performance Group) were practicing in the crescent green; so how could I say no to an opportunity like that!

Clare and her associates were all really nice and were more than happy to let us take photos of them.  I have to say that I was blown away by these guys.  I mean it was scary, breathtaking and beautiful all at the same time.  Their website is www.firepoise.com if you ever want to book them out for an event or a party.  Im sure they are very reasonably priced and you really couldnt get better entertainment.

Today i spent my time re-organising all my tv shows, films and photos on my hard drive (believe me that is a lot of things to organise!) and then went up to Jess to see what the craic was and got fed which im always happy about :-).  Stopped at Tesco on the way home to get some groceries and a couple of beers.

PS: I think everyone has to try this lithuanian beer called Svyturys (it has a blue label and it says BALTAS WHEAT under it).  I know that may have sounded pretentious but its such a great beer! tastes like banana :-).

Day 45 – Hangovers

You should see behind my ears!

You should see behind my ears!

I have been battling with my hangover all day now and it hasnt got any better yet.  I wish there was a cure, although if we never got them then we would drink a lot more! I have to keep remembering that its our bodys way of telling us not to do it!
A few of you already know that I keep a wee post-it note in my room of any ideas I get for photos, like the set up or maybe the location.  I think this was one of the very first ideas I had and ive wanted to do it for months but didnt until tonight.

Basically I love the detail you can get with dirt under the fingernails and for me its a very iconic image for hard work.  I learn new things every time I take photos;  biggest thing ive learnt recently was shutter speeds and at what point I can have it at its lowest before certain subjects start to blur.  Today it was lighting.  I really should have taken this during the day with sunlight but unfortunately i left it too late.
I dunno, im just really not that happy with the way this turned out.  I think I coulda done a much better job and I also should have dedicated more time to this as it was always my favourite idea.  Ahh well, its done now.

As always, thoughts are greatly appreciated.  Especially from you Ryan seeing as how you havent left a single comment on my blog and yet I know you check it out every day! 🙂
